Commercial lift maintenance in central London

Planned servicing and breakdown support for offices, workplaces and mixed-use commercial buildings.

Durant Lifts works with facilities managers, managing agents and building owners to agree service windows, reporting and repair approvals around the needs of an occupied building.

  • Passenger lifts and goods lifts
  • Access and service windows agreed
  • Written visit records through Durant OS

Keep the building brief practical

Maintenance built around an occupied workplace

The lift’s equipment and the building’s daily operation should shape the service plan.

Passenger lifts

Review use at arrival times, lunchtime and the end of the working day. Discuss how planned work affects tenants, visitors and people who rely on step-free access.

Goods and service lifts

Account for deliveries, loading arrangements and back-of-house access. Identify lift type, duty and any operating restrictions before agreeing maintenance.

Mixed-use buildings

Record which lifts serve offices, homes, retail or leisure space. Agree building contacts, access permissions and who receives updates for each unit.

A written service plan

Make the maintenance scope clear before work starts.

For one building or a mixed-brand portfolio, start with a lift register and recent service records.

We review manufacturer, controller, lift type, usage and condition, then agree the planned servicing schedule and breakdown arrangements. Parts cover, chargeable repairs and exclusions belong in the written proposal.

Reporting & planning

A service record the facilities team can use

Contract customers can access visit records, job status and compliance documents through Durant OS.

  1. Record the visit

Keep the building and lift reference with the visit date, work completed and findings.

  2. Review recurring issues

Use breakdown history and reported symptoms to inform investigation of repeat faults.

  3. Agree the next work

Separate routine servicing, a defined repair and any proposed refurbishment in the scope and quotation.

  4. Plan the programme

Discuss parts lead times, expected disruption, access and building communications before planned works.

Faults, repairs and longer-term work

Make the next decision on the condition of the lift

A repeated fault needs diagnosis. An ageing component needs a practical review of repair and replacement options.

Your questions

Commercial lift maintenance questions

Do you maintain lifts in central London commercial buildings?

Yes. Durant Lifts provides planned maintenance, breakdown response and repairs for offices, workplaces and mixed-use commercial buildings in central London. Share the site postcode and lift details so we can confirm the proposed service arrangements.

Which central London areas do you cover?

We serve the City of London, Westminster, Holborn, Fitzrovia and surrounding central London areas from our Chatham base. Access, service windows and attendance terms are agreed for each building.

Can maintenance be planned around office hours and deliveries?

We discuss reception and security arrangements, tenant hours, peak passenger use and goods-delivery periods before agreeing a service window. Any required out-of-hours work and charges should be confirmed in the proposal.

Can you maintain passenger and goods lifts from different manufacturers?

We support passenger, goods and other lift types across mixed-brand portfolios. We review the make, controller, usage and condition of each lift before confirming technical scope, parts requirements and exclusions.

How do you handle recurring faults in a commercial building?

We review the symptoms, breakdown history and site conditions, then investigate the fault. Findings and proposed next steps should distinguish a defined repair from wider refurbishment, with scope and quotation agreed for further work.

What does the maintenance proposal include?

It should identify each lift, the planned servicing schedule, breakdown arrangements, reporting, parts cover, chargeable repairs and exclusions. Site access requirements and repair approval contacts should also be clear.

Is routine servicing the same as a LOLER thorough examination?

No. Planned maintenance and statutory thorough examination are separate. We can review the examination findings and quote for agreed remedial work, while the examination arrangements are confirmed separately.
