01 · Taking on the challenge
An unfinished job. A deadline approaching.
Durant Lifts took over at 80 George Street in January, following the departure of the installation contractors before the lift installations were complete. With outstanding work across seven units and a deadline approaching, the building needed an experienced team to bring the project through to completion.
Our first priority was to understand exactly what had been left unfinished. Taking over another contractor’s installation requires careful investigation, particularly when there are several lifts and different types of equipment involved.
Led by our lead engineer, Evaristo Durant, our engineering team worked through the outstanding installation work, resolved issues and prepared all seven lifts for commissioning. It was a demanding project that called for practical experience, close attention to detail and a clear focus on the approaching deadline.
02 · All seven commissioned
Completed and commissioned. In time.
The site includes five passenger lifts, one platform lift and one goods lift. Each needed to be assessed, completed and commissioned before moving into ongoing maintenance.
Durant Lifts completed the installations and commissioned all seven units. Every lift passed its LOLER inspection in time for the deadline, bringing a challenging handover to a successful conclusion.
For the building team, this meant having one company carry the work through from incomplete installations to the next stage of the lifts’ working lives.
03 · Continuity through maintenance
Seven lifts. Ongoing care.
Our involvement continues today. Durant Lifts now maintains all seven lifts at 80 George Street, bringing first-hand knowledge of the equipment and the work carried out during completion.
That continuity gives our engineers a useful foundation for ongoing care. The team looking after the lifts understands how the project was completed and the issues addressed along the way.
